Place Your Order Today

We are living in a unique time in history. Families live further apart than ever. People are having children later. The way stories and memories are passed through generations is changing rapidly.

While no substitute for the "real thing", StoryTree is our attempt at helping modern humans create and carry on legacy, which we believe is at the core of what makes us human.

Pricing

Although it may seem expensive, we don't think twice about spending that much on a few dinners or nights out each week. A StoryTree lasts a lifetime (and many more to come!) Don't forget, both the joy and the cost of a StoryTree is usually shared among multiple siblings or family members.

Frequently asked questions

What is StoryTree?

StoryTree is a cinematic, personal documentary of a parent or grandparent telling their life story. The finished product is skillfully edited and easily shareable - an instant heirloom for future generations.

How is your service different from doing it myself?

We take the work off your hands by doing all the tedious video editing and post-production. We will edit and cut all the raw footage (usually down by about half), enhance home photos and videos, incorporate your family's favorite sound tracks and piece everything together into a cinematic documentary.

Can I create a StoryTree with both of my parents/grandparents?

While the listed price is for one person, call/text/chat with us - we offer discounts on StoryTree for couples.

How long does it take to get a final product?

Typical post-production time is 6-8 weeks.

How will I receive the final documentary?

StoryTree hosts the final documentary on a shareable, downloadable site for you to easily watch and share with your loved ones. We'll also include links to all professionally-enhanced photos and videos for you to download.

Do I need my own recording equipment?

All you need is a smartphone! We can loan you a filming kit, including a microphone, lighting set up and recording tripod if you don't have one. We highly recommend you use recording hardware as it will significantly improve the quality of the end product. Just select the filming kit add-on if you need to borrow our high-quality equipment!

Can I see the list of questions ahead of time?

Yes. Once you sign up, we will send the *complete interview guide* to help you prepare for your interview.

My grandparent's memory is fading. Will that be an issue?

Not at all! That's what we're here for - we can cut and edit out pauses, ummm's, ahhhh's or repeat anecdotes. This is also why we encourage users to record their elder's memories sooner than later.

What should my parent/grandparent wear for the interview?

Something comfortable - you want them to feel at ease. Typically, the frame is from their waist up and they are sitting down, so any kind of shoes will go.

What if awkward or embarrassing topics come up during the interview?

You can tell us any parts of the raw footage you don't want to be included in the final product. Some families make space for "skeletons in the closet", but other's prefer to keep them there. Don't forget, you'll have the chance to review the draft documentary before we finalize everything, so you can decide whether or not these sections make the final cut.

Where should I record the interview?

You can choose any location for your interview - it could be a special setting or simply their living room! However, we do recommend finding a quiet, private place where they will feel comfortable talking about personal stories.
